# StepMetrics > Web analytics that shows what will bring more visitors to a site. Google Search Console is joined with what visitors do on each page, five suggestions name the page to fix, and 14 and 28 day reviews show whether a change worked. A coding agent can install the tracker and read every report over MCP. StepMetrics is a hosted web analytics product by Deepapps. The tracker is one script tag; apps post JSON to the same endpoint. An MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT or any MCP client answer questions about a site's traffic, pages, sources, search performance, conversions, funnels and bot share, using the same query functions as the dashboard. Key facts: - Google Search Console: connected read-only per workspace, or granted at sign-up with Continue with Google (which also creates the account and a site per property), each site matched to its property, 90 days copied then refreshed every six hours. The Search page and get_search_console show Google's clicks, impressions and position beside the visits Google sent to each page, how many stayed and how many converted. Five suggestions, each with minimum evidence: a search at position 8 to 20 (brand terms excluded), a first-page page clicked under half the site's rate, a page searchers leave, a page whose searchers never convert, a page losing 40% of its clicks. Brand terms split branded from the rest. Suggestions say where to look, not why. - Change reviews: a finding marked "change deployed" gets a 14 and 28 day before/after of Google clicks, impressions, CTR and position, observational, naming an overlapping Google update as overlap, "awaiting data" until the window is complete. Annotations and Google's core and spam updates are markers on the charts. - SEO audits: up to 100 pages crawled without JavaScript or cookies, URL Inspection on up to 20 URLs, sitemap errors, real-visitor Core Web Vitals; findings with severity, evidence and action, no score; on demand or weekly (off by default). No backlinks or competitor data. Nothing is written to Search Console and the site is never edited. - Channels: every visit is in one of paid, AI assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek and others), email, search, social, referral, campaign or direct. A visit with no referrer lands in direct. - Alerts by email, Slack incoming webhook or signed webhook: uptime, event checks, Search Console connection broken, new audit findings. - Free plan: 200,000 events a month, 2 sites, 400-day retention, no card. Pro $19/month adds clickstream and 100 sites. Scale $99/month, 1,000 sites. - Tracker: . Sets one first-party cookie on the site's own host, stepmetrics_id, holding a random id for up to 400 days after the last visit (Safari keeps it 7 days), so returning visitors within 7 and 30 days can be counted by source. Add data-cookieless to the tag to set no cookie, or turn off the visitorCookie setting to stop the id being stored. It also sends a device fingerprint and the device details it came from (screen, time zone, languages, graphics card, fonts), which recognise a visitor without the cookie as a likely match; data-no-fingerprint or the visitorFingerprint setting turns that off. Route changes in single-page apps are counted. - Agent setup: after adding a site, open Connect agent in the dashboard, choose Copy setup prompt and paste it into a coding agent. The prompt installs the tracker tag above directly, configures read-only MCP and asks the agent to verify with list_sites and get_overview. No npm package is needed. - MCP: claude mcp add --transport http stepmetrics https://app.stepmetrics.co/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer " - MCP with OAuth: ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants add https://app.stepmetrics.co/mcp as a custom MCP server and sign in; no key. OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, Client ID Metadata Documents and dynamic client registration; discovery at /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. Access is read-only unless a workspace owner grants edit at consent. The server also answers ChatGPT's search and fetch tools for deep research. - Custom events with arbitrary properties and revenue in minor units, from browser, server or mobile app. - Bot filtering is evidence-based; filtered traffic is kept and can be inspected. Visits carry an engagement signal that separates verified human visits from unverified ones. - Uptime monitoring with outage email on every plan. - Event checks (preview): missing-event and repeated-business-ID rules, evidence and incident history in the dashboard and read-only get_event_checks MCP tool. Emails verified workspace members once when a problem starts and once when it clears. Received events only; no browser-flow testing or billing reconciliation. - Agent telemetry: an optional SDK, built from the sdk/ source directory and not published on npm, authenticates with an ingest key and reports runs, model calls, tool calls, tokens and server-priced cost; read back over MCP and the API. - Visitor ids rotate daily; funnels do not cross UTC midnight. Raw request telemetry including IP address and user agent is retained. ## Search Console and SEO - [Which page to fix this week](https://stepmetrics.co/seo/) ## Docs - [Install the tracker](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/install/) - [Custom events](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/custom-events/) - [iOS, Android and React Native](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/mobile/) - [Connect an agent over MCP](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/mcp/) - [Google Search Console](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/search-console/) - [Custom dashboards](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/dashboards/) - [Record your own AI agents](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/agents/) - [Query the API](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/api/) - [Bot filtering](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/bot-filtering/) - [Keep your own visits out](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/own-traffic/) - [Event checks](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/event-checks/) - [The event meter](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/usage/) - [Measurement limits](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/limits/) - [Configuration](https://stepmetrics.co/docs/configuration/) - [Pricing](https://stepmetrics.co/pricing/) ## Integrations - [Next.js](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/nextjs/) - [Astro](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/astro/) - [Vite and single-page apps](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/vite/) - [React Native](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/react-native/) - [iOS](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/ios/) - [Android](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/android/) - [Claude Code](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/claude-code/) - [ChatGPT](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/chatgpt/) - [Cursor](https://stepmetrics.co/integrations/cursor/) ## Compare
