ChatGPT

Your analytics, inside ChatGPT

Add StepMetrics to ChatGPT and sign in. From then on you ask about your site in the chat, and the answers come from the same numbers as the dashboard.

Connect by signing in

In ChatGPT, add https://app.stepmetrics.co/mcp as a custom MCP server and choose OAuth. ChatGPT sends you to StepMetrics to sign in, you pick the workspace and how much access to grant, and you are back in the chat. There is no key to copy, nothing to store in a config file, and nothing to rotate. The connection appears in your workspace's key list, and revoking it there disconnects ChatGPT at once. No account yet? Continue with Google on that sign-in screen: it creates your workspace from the sites in your Search Console, and you are back in ChatGPT with data to ask about. The MCP docs have the exact steps.

What you can ask

Deep research works too: StepMetrics answers ChatGPT's search and fetch requests, so a report can find a site, a page or a funnel by name and quote its last 30 days with a link to the page it is about.

Read-only unless you say otherwise

The access you grant when you connect is read-only by default: ChatGPT can look at anything in the workspace and change nothing. A workspace owner can grant edit access instead, which adds creating sites, funnels and checks and shaping the Dashboard page, and still never includes billing, deleting a site or creating keys. Whatever you grant, the connection is tied to you: if you leave the workspace it stops working on the next request.
