Keep your own visits out

This browser, on any network

Open any page of your site with ?stepmetrics_ignore=1 on the end, for example https://example.com/?stepmetrics_ignore=1. The site shows a short note, and from then on that browser sends nothing to StepMetrics from that site: no pageviews and no events. It keeps working when you change Wi-Fi or turn on a VPN, because it is remembered by the browser rather than tied to your internet address. The account panel has a ready-made link for each of your sites.

It applies to one browser on one site, so open the link once per site in each browser you use, including your phone. Clearing that site's data, or browsing in a private window, forgets it. Open ?stepmetrics_ignore=0 to be counted again. Events already stored are untouched, and events your own server sends are not affected.

This connection

Open the dashboard's account panel on the computer you want ignored and click Stop counting this computer, or ask your agent over MCP. From then on, no site in your account records visits from that address; events already stored are untouched. For IPv6 the entry is the /64 rather than the exact address, because devices rotate their privacy address about daily and an exact-address exclusion would quietly lapse overnight. Anything behind the same home or office connection is excluded with it. The account panel lists every entry and removes one with a click, and the same list is excludeIps below.
